About the Mawr Development TrustThe Mawr Development Trust is a community based organisation working for the sustainable regeneration of the area through a mixture of economic, environmental, social and cultural initiatives. It is supported by a range of organisations, including, The Welsh Assembly Government, the Swansea Council for Voluntary Service, Mawr Community Council, John Collins and Partners (Solicitors) and the City and County of Swansea's Community Regeneration Unit. The Trust is run by a Steering Committee, (made up of local residents) which meets monthly most often at Felindre Welfare Hall. The Trust aims to work in partnership with all members of the community, and to be locally accountable in its work, in its style, and in the composition of its membership. The trust has successfully established a thriving walking club (http://www.mawrwalkingclub.co.uk) and a junior fly-fishing course and competition. It has also purchased the former Garnswllt Primary School and is developing it into an Adventure / Activity Centre which will be a fantastic community facility for the area and will bring tourists and income into Mawr. For latest developments at the Centre see the link on the left. Trust Newsletters are produced three times a year and distributed free of charge to all residents of the Mawr. See our download page for past issues. The Trust is always on the look out for 'thinkers' and 'doers' - people who have a keen sense of belonging - people who have ideas - and people who can make these ideas work. So, whether you are a 'thinker' or a 'doer' the Trust needs your support. For more information about how YOU can get involved with the Trust contact the Development Officer, Phil Owen.
